The Cochin Smart Mission Limited ( C M S L ) has almost completed its mission of introduction of Intelligent Transportation Management in City Traffic, in Kochi City. According to Reports already spend 27 Crores of Rupees on this behalf, The project is expected to commission soon.
The CSML mission of ITMS is focused on two issues. Monitoring and Enforcement. With the help of newly erected Surveillance Cameras in the different parts of the city, the traffic movement on various parts of the city could be monitored from the central Control Room set up by the CMSL. At the same time observing of vehicles movement also can be recorded. Once an offences is recorded in the surveillance System ,as per information, automatic traffic challans will be prepared and forwarded to the offender.
Automatic Number Plate Recording ( A N P R )
The surveillance Cameras are using ANPR protocol also. This will automatically read the number plate and its text form will be transmitted automatically without human intervention. The officials in the control room take the print out of the offence and sent to the offender. At the same time details will be sent to the registered mobile number of the Registered Owner also.
At present the Over Speed Detection Project of Motor Vehicles Department ( M V D ) between the Vadakkumchery and Walayar Stretch is using the ANPR technology .
Pelican Signals
The Mission are also located few places for locating Pelican Traffic Signage for the use of pedestrians. These signals are operated by the pedestrians who wants to cross the road.
