The 30 th road safety week , will be observed from 04 the February 2019 to 10 the February 2019.The cardinal aim of this celebration is to involve all stake holders and member of society to join hands against the evil of Road accidents and loss of life. Last year around 1.47 Lakh of innocent citizen died in our roads,this create immense economic hardships and emotional trauma to their family. Earlier it was observed during the first week of January.
The Main objective of this campaign is to create road safety awareness among all kind of road users.The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has opted "SADAK SURAKSHA ..JEEVAN RAKSHA " as the theme of this years campaign. Awareness for use of Protective Gears like Helmet for Two Wheeler Riders and Weaning Seat Belt for Four Wheeler drivers are the target area of the campaign.
As per reports in our country more than 15 to 16 person die in road accident in each hour, that mean a person dies in each four minutes ,which is much higher than any other cause of death in the country.There are lot of reason behind in the happening of each road accident but human related issues are more dominating in the occurrence of road accidents.
In kerala , Road safety Week is observed thorough out the state with extensive publicity, and involvement of public,by the MVD and Kerala POLICE.Variety of awareness programs like classes to students ,awareness classes for drivers of all class of vehicles,medical check up,eye check up camps and enforcement activities with special focus on Helmet and seat belts,drunken driving ,use of mobile phone while driving etc.Without the active participation of public it is very difficult to achieve Mission Road Safety .
The inaugural session of this awareness program , is scheduled at Trivandrum,state capital on 04th February and the closing ceremony is scheduled at Kozhikode on February 10 .
