The MVD is going to commission the Enforcement Control Room at Chevayur ,Kozhikode on the first week of March 2019.This is the third facility in the state with the aim to tackle over speeding of all kind of vehicles.In the newly constructed Control Room all the 37 camera in the Walayar Stretch as well as existing Camera in the Thrissur Kasargod Stretch are connected .The state run KELTRON is the service provider . In this Control Room when over speed is detected a computer generated Charge Memo Will be posted to the Registered Owner Demanding payment of Fine other wise Prosecution steps will be initiated.The amount of Fine for Overspend is Rs 400 /- and for dangerous or rash and negligent driving is Rs 1000/-.The snaps of the offence will be printed as well as stored in the server.In addition to the snaps a small clip of the particular offence are also stored in the server.
In addition to existing system,average speed calculation methods are also employed.This will bring more vehicle under the scanner.At present permanent users are slowing down the vehicle near the loop to bring down the speed and cruises immediately after the loop.
In the modern control room all vehicles passing between Wadakkancheryy and Walayar ,at a speed more than 20 kmph ,will be captured and recorded in the server used in control room.Also the cam can deliver pictures of driver who is driving the vehicle at that particular point of time.
State of Kerala is the first to introduce over speed detecting li dar based camera system in the country.The Concept of Automated enforcement as well as Traffic managements are very popular in foreign countries.
In addition to the automated speed cameras vehicle mounted Radar systems are also using for speed violation by the MVD as well as Police Department.The fine for such offence have to paid at the spot or concerned base station.
The Control room houses the SAFE KERALA control room also at the same facility.Both the control rooms are managed by Regional Transport Officer Nine Motor Vehicles Inspector and 32 Asst Motor Vehicles Inspectors.
