The Silencer is a part of a motor vehicles,which reduce the sound of the engine produced at the time of burning of air fuel mixture inside the engine block of and Internal Combustion Engine,It is also known as Muffler.In order to dampen the sound generated during combustion proper muffler designed for the specific vehicle shall be used.

Before manufacturing of each motor vehicle the manufacture ,submit their product for testing process in any of the testing agency,approved by Ministry of road transport and Highways.The testing agencies conduct various tests for conformity of provision of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules as well as corresponding Automotive Industry Standards ( AIS) or in the absence of AIS ,corresponding BIS standards.When the provisions and standards are complied the agency give prototype approval for the model and the manufacture has to make vehicle according to the approval and specifications.
If the Executive Officers detect such an offence with substantial matters,the owner may opt to compound the offence at the spot itself.In such case the Executive Officers may collect the specified compounding fees and close the charge against the accused.At the same time he is at the liberty to demand removal of the silencer and reproduction of vehicle after rectification of the defects mentioned in the charge.If the owner or person control over the vehicle will fully deny to obey the direction by dismantling the silence the concerned registering authority may initiate cancellation of the Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
